Ali Babour Cave Restaurant 🪨🍽

I was recently clearing my older pictures and while at it found  several screenshots of Ali Babour Cave Restaurant from 2017. I was a little bit surprised because I hadn’t realised that my wish to visit this beautiful cave restaurant was that long😍.

Incase you are wondering if I am using the word cave symbolically, I’m not. The restaurant is in an actual underground cave. You will literally take stairs down the cave and then sit under an opening that allows you to watch the stars as you dine and drink. Isn’t that magical?

Because I don’t want to bore you with many words let’s get into the details now💃.

Enjoy 👯👯

Location

The Ali Babour cave restaurant is located along the Diani Beach Road and approximately a 14 minutes drive from the Diani-Ukunda junction.

The property’s sign board is on the right side of the road and huuuuge so you definitely won’t miss it. It is also a three minutes walk from the highway hence accessible if you are using public transport. If using private means, you can use this Google Maps directions. They are accurate to the T!

The Restaurant

Right from the entrance, you will be wowed by everything! As is protocol now, there is a hand wash point and a swahili bed that you can sit on as you either wait for someone or to cool before going down for dinner.

When it comes to the ambience of the space, I’ll let the pictures do the talking🤯🤯

Views of the restaurant by night😍😍. These pictures were taken between 7 – 8pm

Remember the opening j was talking about? Here is how gorgeous it looks by night. Dining under the stars given a new meaning😍

I also loved the table arrangements and especially how gorgeous it looks with the candles at night.

The Food

Ali babour caters for a majority of the people as they have both vegetarian and non-vegeterian options😋. Because their menu is fully available on their website, I’ll simply include links to them down below:

1. Al Carter menu

2. Vegetarian menu

3. Group set menu

The only thing I’ll say about the food is that it was tastyyyy and while they are not very cheap they certainly are worth the price😉.

For the appetiser we had the Ali’s Drunken Prawns. If you have never had seafood and are not sure if you will like it, this is a good option as the Prawns are soaked in Whisky cream sauce hence are tasty

For the main meal, we had the Catch of the day and the Cheesy Cave Chicken. They were both very yummy and I can definitely recommend 👌👌.

Drinks

Because we didn’t find a drinks menu on the website, we were a little bit scared of the prices. To our surprise, we found that drinks were fairly priced with a glass of juice going for 250/- and a bottle of beer going for 350/-.

Incase you go, you can plan ahead on what cocktail, wine , bear or soft drink you’ll take from the drinks menu below:

Also here is the bar area

Making a reservation

It is highly recommended to make a reservation for your table at Ali Babour since it can get pretty busy. The restaurant is open between 5-8 pm every day of the week.

To make your reservation you can call them on +254 714 456131 or book directly on their website HERE . If you will be staying along the Diani Beach Road, be sure to mention that as they offer free pick up to accommodations/ hotels along the Diani Beach Road.

Dress code

When visiting Ali Babour kindly dress smart and…

1. Do not wear a hat or Beach wear

2. For men, do not wear a vest, shorts or sandals.

We’ve now come to the end of this blog. I have felt so much nostalgia writing this😭 but I really hope that you’ve enjoyed this blog and are looking forward to visiting Ali Babour soon☺.
